Elise Green, a trained compositionist and rhetorician, has been at Longwood since 2014. In addition to her work as a Senior Lecturer, she currently serves as the Civitae Writing Coordinator and the CAFE Faculty Consultant for Teaching Writing. She teaches courses in professional writing, visual rhetoric and document design, and grammar theory and practice. Dr. Green also regularly facilitates workshops and presents at national and regional conferences, such as the Conference on College Composition and Communication, Virginia Association of Teachers of English Conference, and Longwood's annual Summer Literacy Institute. Her specialization in composition pedagogy has supported her in serving as a consultant for k-12, disciplinary, and professional writing contexts.

Dr. Green earned her BS in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in pre-k-6 with a minor in English from Old Dominion University. She went on to earn her MA in English from Liberty University, where she taught first-year composition courses and served as the Assistant to the Director of the First-Year Composition program. She earned her PhD from Old Dominion University. Her dissertation, "Building Bridges in First-Year Composition: Investigating the Support of Threshold Concepts in Writing-Related Transfer Across the Curriculum," explores student uptake of threshold concepts from Longwood's first-year composition course to writing situations across the curriculum.
