Dr. Eric Hodges is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Longwood University. He teaches classes in American Government, Political Philosophy, and Homeland Security. Prior to his academic service, Dr. Hodges served in the U.S. Marine Corps and in the U.S. Intelligence Community. His research focuses on improving the reintegration process for military veterans.

Dr. Hodges has presented his work at several conferences and published in both scholarly and non-scholarly publications. He was also part of a team awarded a $150,000 grant by the National Endowment for the Humanities to investigate how the humanities can help veterans. 

In Spring 2021, Dr. Hodges received a Dialogues on the Experience of War grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The grant will focus on the wartime and homecoming experiences of local African American veterans.
