Dr. Tim Ritzert is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology. He joined the Longwood faculty in 2017 after earning his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University at Albany, SUNY.

He directs the Therapy Research, Anxiety, & Clinical Science (TRACS) Lab. Research in the TRACS Lab seeks to better understand psychological processes involved in the development and maintenance of mental health problems and improve treatments for such problems. The work is grounded in an approach to clinical psychology called contextual behavioral science. This approach focuses the interaction between behavior and its context, with goal of developing interventions to cultivate well-being. Current research is evaluating mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches to behavior therapy. Click to visit the TRACS lab website.

Dr. Ritzert teaches undergraduate courses such as Introduction to Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, and Health Psychology. He frequently uses a team-based learning approach to promote student collaboration and active learning.
