The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) welcome the Longwood and Farmville community to attend the Plot Dedication Ceremony as we celebrate the creation and reveal of the plots. The ceremony will take place on Friday, February 18th at 4:00pm at the Clark House Intercultural Center, located on Main Street between the Fitness Center and athletic fields.
A plot is an area of land decorated in honor of the nine member organizations of NPHC, also known as the Divine Nine. Each individual organization has its own colors, mottos, mascots, etc. that coincide with the values and history of that organization. At most Historically Black Colleges and University’s (HBCU’s) plots are commonly on the main lawn of campus. At Predominantly White Institution’s (PWI’s) they are commonly placed near the multi/intercultural centers. Regardless of the type of college or university, plots are used to symbolize the important historic significance to not just the African American community, but the larger community as a whole. NPHC has chapters domestically and abroad and has been a leading example of community service, scholarship, and fellowship. Through the creation of plots, NPHC is recognized and honored for these commitments.
